Problem with creating New and Sub Folders not appearing in listing
Thunderbird is allowing the creation of some New & Sub Folders but they do not always appear in the listing everytime.
Picture shows present list, but have tried to get sub-folders in the Bank & IMarEST. (Apologies for the Hypersnap stamps) Sorry but picture isn't uploading!
I'm using Windows x86 Version 8.1 - Thunderbird 31.6.0

How to subscribe to see imap folders:
- Right-click on your mail account name and select 'Subscribe'
- Available IMAP folders on the server will be listed.
- Select the ones that you want to add to your mail client
- click the Subscribe button.
- Press the OK button

Are you using 'View > Folders > All
If this is IMAP account...have you subscribed to see the folders and the subfolders ?
View Folders All - Not effective.
It would appear that I'm using an IMAP Server = Port 993. How does one subscribe to it?

Thank you - it has solved the problem, the only thing I can add to the above advice is that Tunderbird needs to be shut down each time a new folder(s) is/are added to activate it/them. They can be re-allocated betwen folders once installed id needed.
It isn't the only wierd thing I have found in switching between Windows XP and Windows 8.1 and I suppose it won't be the last!
Closing Thunderbird seems a bit drastic. Perhaps you could try going into 'Offline' mode and then switching back to 'Online' mode.
To go into Offline mode: Click on the 2 blue screen icon located bottom left in Status Bar. It will change to 2 black screen icon when offline.

Hi,
This doesn't seem to work either way and I'm having to shut Thunderbird down to get the sub folders to be installed.
XP was certainly a lot easier to work with!

I found that I had to do one more step with the chosen solution: double-click on the folder/sub-folder you want to add, so there's not a checkmark to the right of it. Then click on "subscribe" to re-subscribe to it.
I added this last step and didn't have to restart Thunderbird, or do anything else for it to automatically work.
