Latest update (10/2/24) is impossible to use. How can I get back the prior version for Mac OS Sonoma 14.6.1 on my Macbook Air?

I have a TBI that really limits my ability to process information. The tabs now have a dropdown that is very confusing and gets in the way of my working. I have to shut Firefox and leave the computer, but of course when I am recovered from the confusion, I come back to the same situation.

I was able to find a way to stop the even-more-frustrating dropdown video preview, but it's not enough.

I have relied on FF for years, but it seem that putting more bells & whistles is more important than providing a functional browser interface. Please explain to me in plain English how to remove the overloaded browser and revert to a version I can utlize without a breakdown.

You can fix the software problem without requiring a system restore to do so. It only is happening with Firefox, not other browsers. The website display in some coding format, which I don't know how to use.

I've been on Thunderbird for almost 20 years and a Mozilla fan. Have evolved a fairly elaborate configuration of local (POP) email folders, rules, calendar, and accounts to manage & organize email activity, retention, archiving, etc. I've not had to deal with Profiles in previous upgrades and don't have much experience with it.

The recent Oct 1 push of Firefox & Thunderbird 131.0 releases took me by surprise. I was able to re-implement the previous Firefox profile to recover bookmarks, cookies, passwords, etc. However, when T-Bird warned that 131.0 was Beta & unsupported I took the suggestion to download & install the current supported release: 128.3.0 (I was on 128.2.3). Then hell came.

Once downloaded, installed & launched, Thunderbird 128.3 cautioned the new profile created with T-Bird 131.0 was incompatible with previous versions and that I should create a new one, which I did. Still could not get new T-Bird to recognize previous profile, so I tried uninstalling, downloading & reinstalling 128.3 multiple times, each time prompted to create a new profile before proceeding. I tried to follow the previous profile restoration process detailed on support forums & articles, but none seemed specifically relevant to my situation.

I located my profiles in the appdata roaming profile folder, including what I think are most recent based on size of mail folders. Can't determine whether I had just one or several in use due to the extent of my setup. Could really use some help & advice to: 1) Determine which profile was in most recent use prior to T-Bird upgrade. 2) Whether more than one profile was in use. 3) Re-implement the profile I was using on T-Bird 128.2.3 with my new 128.3.0

PS You'll ask why I would upgrade to 131.0 from 128.2.3. Answer: it was on auto-update and 131.0 is what was pushed. No more auto-updates for this guy!

I am currently on 133.0a1 (2024-10-04) (64-bit) Nightly and the new tab button to the right of the tabs is missing. It will show up sometimes, but I have to go to customize and move some things around, then start browsing and it will pop back up.

I use that button often, how do I get that back?

I have my settings set to automatically update Firefox. Earlier this week, Firefox 131.0 was installed through this automatic update. Since then, Firefox repeatedly and randomly crashes, and I have no idea why because it did not happen with previous Firefox versions. There seems to be a bug in the new release that is causing this.

I'm using Firefox Developer Edition 132.0b2 (64-bit) and noticed that the only way to open a new tab is to click on the pancake icon and select new tab. The "+" icon in the tab bar is missing.

I also noticed that there is no way to reload the page (especially doing a hard reload). This is a major issue when making updates to websites and wanting to see those edit. Clicking in the address bar and then on enter will reload the page, but does not do a hard reload, so the cached version of the page is displayed, not the updates.

We are seeing that the key "DisableAppUpdate" being set to TRUE in about:policies. Not sure why this setting is being set. The result of the setting is "Updates disabled by your organization". So we cannot manually update firefox and are not sure why the setting is being set.

We used Procmon to capture logs:

Is there anything in Firefox that can trigger the setting of this key?

Today I was notified version 131.0 had been installed. Now, when using ThinkorSwim (a Charles Schwab web-based trading tool), I can't access my banking account. Here's the error: "You might have cookies blocked or cross-site tracking prevented. Depending on what browser you're using, check your settings for these terms: • Block third party cookies • Cookie tracking • Cross-site tracking Make sure cookies are not blocked and cross-site tracking is enabled. Follow any additional instructions in your browser once you have adjusted these settings."

I've used Schwab daily for 12+ years, and have never encountered this. Today is 1st day with FF 131.0.

Installed older version of Thunderbird (15) on top of newer version (120)>> lost access to profiles??

How can I now re-install 128? It won't download.

A couple of days ago Mozilla updated the home page. Even though I examined the spiel I now get MY Home page and a Mozilla page when I open up the computer. How do i get rid of the Mozilla page?

I am getting the following error message: Platform version 131.0.1 not compatible with miniversion. Please see the screenshot attached for further details. I cannot open firefox due to this error message and I receive this error message every time I try to open the Firefox.

Latest update, 4. oct. Using Firefox Developer Edition. Closed the browser window for the day, and then on opening again it had updated, my entire toolbar, and also icons where the tabs are, are just gone - including the "+" icon for creating a new tab, along with the bookmarks bar having vanished. Picture added below.

It seems like the bookmarks bar is still there, you just can visibly see any bookmarks. Tried adding a new bookmark, but nothing appeared.

How can I fix this?
