firefox 109 is constantly crashing, sometimes costing meexpenses. I have submitted over 50 crashes in the past month, aand have heard nor seen any response from firefox.

How can I rectify this without reinstalling firefox, which by the way was more trouble than it was worth, as it didn't fix the crashes , but did manage to clear my bookmark menus, which was a complete pain in the arse. any help will be greatly received - if it works

I only have this problem on https://seb.se/ and it worked on my old computer with windows 10, it also works with Edge.

It seems Firefox does not recognize links on that site. Nothing can be clicked and the pointer does not change when hovering a link.

A friend (who knows even less about technology than me) has an old Dell Inspiron 1501 which has been running Linux Mint 18 Xfce, which is now unsupported. I'm beginning to regret it but just to keep it going for a couple of years I offered to update to Mint 20 Xfce, which is the last version listing 1 Gb as the minimum Ram (everything later or other version are 2 Gb or more), which is the most that system can use. Once the wifi was eventually working (old b43 broadcom driver) most things went fine (except Team Viewer, which works on another Mint 20 Xfce system, but that's not a question for here). However, she uses Yahoo mail, and for some reason just attempting to load the login page (login.yahoo.com) causes Firefox to crash (I mentioned Thunderbird in the title as I attempted to access Yahoo Mail with it, but because it needs to access the Yahoo Mail page (as I think this is now based on App codes rather than passwords), and doing that crashed Thunderbird also). I'm pretty sure I have methodically gone through all the troubleshooting steps on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems (clear cookies & cache by deleting history; clear startup cache; refresh; reinstall; new profile). Firefox doesn't crash in Troubleshoot mode, despite the fact is seems to still use hardware acceleration, even though I thought it would disable that. Hence, I'm at the end of what I know to try (and that's just from following the guide, I am not an expert) and would be grateful for any help anyone can offer. I attach an image that lists all the submitted crash reports, as they will refer to slightly different conditions as I tried all the options mentioned above. I'm using my own PC to submit this (so any hardware & system data submitted by this web-form won't be relevant), not the Inspiron 1501 that has the issue. I can open the Yahoo mail page on this machine (same version of Firefox) and also on the Inspiron 1501 using Chrome (but there was a different reason relating to security why we couldn't log in via that). Would really like to get Firefox (and Thunderbird) working on the laptop, if possible.

I tried the RPM and Flatpak Firefox, both in the newest version give me crashes when Loading Youtube, Invidious, Stud.IP, Nextcloud and more "bigger" sites.

It seems like an OOM error, but I have way enough RAM, 4GB/12GB used.

I tried the Flatpak and the RPM Version.

I tried troubleshooting mode.

I used the Arkenfox user.js on both installs.

I upgraded to 108.01 three days ago. It crashed 3 times in the next two days, accompanied by that popup you get informing you of the crash.

For years I've been using the extraction method of the executable to create a Firefox portable application. Upgrading only involves the install folder. The profile remains untouched, unaltered.

I had an incident of profile corruption a couple months ago, with basically Firefox launching with most features not working, i.e. toolbar buttons, toolbar menus, etc. Yesterday, for a short time, aside from two crashes, I had a similar experience with the buttons, but not quite the same. My default built in Firefox buttons worked, but my extension buttons didn't. I also noticed on a page that I regularly visit, Ublock origin wasn't doing it's regular job of blocking, and the Ublock button was non-responsive.

I'm also in the process of using the Brave Browser for the first time. The reason I'm posting this here about this subject, including a Brave experience, is that at the same time I was experiencing the Firefox erratic behavior, Brave was crashing as well; freezing; tabs not loading.

Considering the Brave tabs not loading, and the temporary Firefox Ublock origin failure, etc., I'm wondering if there might be something in common here? Maybe an internet connectivity issue at the time?

I recently switched to Verizon Fios - I don't know if that is related or not. Also opening gmail in private viewing does not change anything and opening it in safe mode has not changed anything. I just downloaded the most recent update. After restarting because the browser locked up (as it usually always does eventually) now when I right click to save a picture (save as) firefox opens an invisible (file explorer?) window. At first I didn't realize it was invisible. I could see a flash of the outline of the window but as quickly as that happens it seems to vaporize/minimize and become inaccessible apparently. However because of my inquisitive mind I just realized that isn't exactly so. Because I've seen this happen before with your little "clear recent history" options window. So how I realized it was possible to close this 100% transparent invisible window was by hovering my mouse cursor around the outline of where I saw it was where it flash/minimized. By doing so I could find the edges where my mouse cursor changes from a regular pointer arrow to a two sided window expander arrow used to widen or shorted the sides and tops of windows. By locating this I was able to find the top right corner and click on the location of the invisible red "X" button which actually closes the invisible window. This may sound a little crazy but I repeated the same thing twice now since when I came back to the same page to try and save the same picture after restarting firefox a second time, the same thing happened again. By the way when this happens the browser window locks and I cannot access the file menu or choose to cancel/exit firefox even with the red arrow at the upper corner of the windows. Also the file menus of any other firefox windows I have open also become locked. Previoously when this was happening to me I determined that the only way to fix the issue was to kill firefox from windows Task Manager. But at that time (a few months ago) the same issue was occurring. I can't remember if restarting my computer fixed it but that's my obviousl next tstep in case it's an issue with widows itself. I cannot recall how I this issue was remedied the last time it happened. I'm thinking I may have had to uninstall/reinstall firefox or go basically install the newest version on top of the current version (which is supposed to be updated by the way!) Anyways as you're reading this is not the first time this has happened to me in Firefox. It's happened previously at least once or twice within the past 6 months probably after a firefox update I'm seeming to recall. Why do things get screwed up after updates and changes get made that affect my accessibility? This cannot be just happened randomly. Upon researching the topic there was very little I could find and no soulutions in the firefox help forum. I came across something in my searching that this may be an issue with windows file explorer so I tried restarting windows explorer but that did not help either. I have tried restarting firefox once since the update and that did not fix this issue either. I have not tried restarting my computer but I will be doing that next. It's possible I guess that may fix it. It seems that the last time this happened to firefox it eventually was corrected or somehow fixed itself but I don't remember how. Just prior to the restart after this most recent update my firefox actually locked up as a web page was loading and I was trying to access the menu to clear recent history by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete since the file menu was locking. This window never actually opened (or perhaps was also made invisible) prior to getting it to close. With that one it can only happen by canceling or clearing. When this happened all the other firefox windows I had opened turned 100% blank white until the locked one cleared. In the meantime I had disconnected my internet to try and get the one page that wasn't loading to stop. But I also forgot to mention that just prior to this happening, not only right click menus but the firefox menu bar menus were opening black; some with a few icons or words but with others completely blacked out like blank, but black blank. I do use dark mode. This is also not the first time I've ever seen that happen (blank menus) in Firefox. In fact it has happened to my firefox several times over the past year around times that the browser became overloaded or after a recent update. In addition I have major issues with firefox maxing out my memory basically every time I use it one the RAM gets full. Why can't firefox self regulate its memory usage so as not to chronically lock up my entire computer on a regular basis? Why do I have to use add-on extensions designed to perform this feat when it should just be built into basic firefox functionality. Firefox should not allow itself to "hang". If tasks cannot be completed within 30 seconds they need to stop. If memory gets beyond a certain point, web pages need to unload automatically and their memory dumped. It's no big deal. Lastly my bookmark menu is a mess and not easily accessible. I don't like having a both a regular bookmarks list and an "other bookmarks" list. A number of years ago I think bookmarks were automatically saved into the regular bookmarks menu and I don't know that ever really used the other bookmarks section if it was even there at the time. But then at some point the auto-bookmarking bookmarks helper started automatically setting new bookmarks to go into this "other bookmarks" folder. This went on for sometime so I just started using "other bookmarks" until again after some recent update within the past year the bookmark settings were changed back by some developers at Firefox to go back to the regular bookmarks menu. But since I got so used to using the other bookmarks menu and don't really know how to consolidate and organize these all into one section I just feel really upset about it. I don't want to have two bookmarks folders unless I designate a separate one myself. I need a power-users bookmark manager and a bookmarks menu with as many user customizable options/settings as possible. The current bookmarks menu looks like it was designed for children. I want to be able to change the view. I want to be able to get rid of duplicates. I want to be able to re-categorize bookmarks from different folders into new folders by subject matter and cross-link bookmarks from different folders by subject matter or by site visited, etc. I think the current bookmarks system is not user friendly. Anybody ever heard of the Humane Interface by Jef Raskin? How about root tabs inside bookmarks folders for people who save all tabs from windows into bookmark folders? There has to be a better way.

I use firefox to play music, so I usually have a window in the background while I do other things. When playback starts after a pause, or between songs, the playback window often steals keyboard focus. So if I'm typing in another window, I'm interrupted. Very annoying. It happens on at least youtube, navidrome, and jellyfin.

I've found a few others reporting similar issues that suggest setting `mozilla.widget.raise-on-setfocus` to `false` - but this doesn't work for me. How can I figure out what's triggering this keyboard steal so I can fix it?

I'm using firefox esr 102.7.0esr, but it's been happening for a while. I've tried the debian builds and the official firefox.com builds, same behavior. Thanks for any suggestions.

I always can switch browser but i love fire fox syncing thing that's why im trying not to shift. But, if Mozilla won't fix my problem then i had to shift it. some days ago like 6months ago or long ago mozilla fixed firefox video playback by a update and it was really great and worked for me. 720p was working really fine. but now on recent update... it really lags too much.

2. fire fox becoming heavy, we all know chrome is memory hungry and uses very much ram, but i compared firefox to chrome before it was true firefox used less ram then chrome. but nowadays firefox uses much ram then chrome which is really wierd so fix it aswell.
