I downloaded Firefox 24.0 for Mac, but websites are reading it as Firefox 14.0. How do I fix this?

For some reason, a number of websites (for example, NovoEd web site for a MOOC) are telling me that Firefox is not up to date, and one web site stated that I was using Firefox 14.0, although that's not what the file on my computer is called.

In fact, in reading my computer for this question, the Mozilla website has listed the version of the Firefox browser that I'm using as 14.0.1.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Perhaps you either have both Firefox 14.0.1 and 24.0 installed or the useragent is overridden as Firefox 14.0.1

hello fandance2000, the troubleshooting information you've submitted also seems to show that you're still on firefox 14. please download the right language version for your system from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ and install it on top of your current system as it's described here: How to download and install Firefox on Mac (this will keep all your personal data).

I again downloaded Firefox 24.0. That's what the file in my Applications folder is called. However, the web is still reading my version of Firefox as 14.0.

I deleted Firefox completely and then downloaded it again, and that appears to have fixed the problem. (And all my bookmarks reappeared, which I had not expected.)

Thanks for all the answers.
