Having found a need for a screen capture extension for Firefox, I have had to replace several as these get broken by Firefox updating. Having found one which worked in the then current version of Firefox AND survived subsequent updates, I find, on the extension home page, another extension, but no details, so I go to the Mozilla website to look for that extension, only to find, the above statement on the relevant add-on page at addons.mozilla.org.

As this "administrator" neglected to include an explanation for his/her action, and I could not see the add-on listed on the "Blocked Add-ons" page, I use this method to seek the missing explanation for the disablement of this add-on.

Although the administrator announces that "Screenshot Pimp" has been "disabled", for my installation of Firefox, the Add-ons Manager page at about:addons reports that my copy of Firefox has not yet disabled this add-on.

The Web of Trust gives a good report for the website used by the developer of Screenshot Pimp, while NoVirusThanks Company's website safety report at URLVoid.com claims that only one of the thirty databases which they use report a problem with "Konverts" website.

Unfortunately, this adverse item on NoVirusThanks' website safety report turns out to be NoVirusThanks software misreading their source.

Web Security Guard actually reports:

"Unknown Category Unknown website This website is not reported in our database" or in any Google or PhishTank "Advisory"

Thank you Cor-el for your consideration. Unfortunately, although I might now need to look at the add-ons which you list, my posting relates to the fact that a member of the Mozilla team has raised a flag relating to a currently installed add-on, yet has neglected to explain his/her reasons for doing that.

A component of "Screenshot Pimp" is currently spamming my copy of the Firefox Error Console, and possibly flushing out messages which I might need to catch before Firefox would normally flush them out of the Console, but I know of no other reason for "Screenshot Pimp" falling out of favour/favor.

If anyone can find the "administrator" concerned, would they please see if this "administrator" can remember why they disabled the add-on. I would like to find out if I need to play Russian Roulette with replacements for "Screenshot Pimp", on the offchance that I can find one which works in Firefox 17.0.1, and might still work when the next update is installed.

If you have installed an extension in the past that has now been removed from the Add-ons server or is otherwise no longer available then you need decide for yourself if you want to keep such an extension. You won't receive any updates anymore. It is not possible to find out the reason behind this decision.

If extensions are no longer working properly with the current or a next Firefox version (Firefox 18 will be released soon) then you will have to uninstall or at least disable the extension and look for an alternative if you can't contact the developer for support.
