when I click on a searched topic a unrelated popup occurs and stops me from looking at my searched item

when I am doing a web search and a list of possible sites are shown, when I click on any of the sites some type of popup occurs. example: search for RV campgrounds near Harrisonburq, VA. the browser/search engine locates several sites---when I click on the site---pop-up for car insurance occurs. click on anther site and insurance pop up occurs-----but I am never able to open the original site without a pop-up blocking me
