After a crash, this message shows up in event viewer:

"25008: Start repair on 02/05/2016 at 05:04:38:498 27133: The resident attribute for attribute of type 0x30 and instance tag 0x2 is incorrect. The attribute has value of length 0x50, and offset 0x1018. The attribute length is 0x68. 25005: Deleting attribute of type code 0x30 and instance tag 0x2 for file record 0x4000000010134. 27293: File record 0x4000000010134 maps to "\Users\*******\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla". 25009: End repair on 02/05/2016 at 05:04:38:529 "

There is no trace of my previous profile in the roaming folder now, thus all of my bookmarks are missing. The previous profiles DO show up in the "local" folder, but as far as I understand, those entries do not contain bookmark information. Is there any other way to recover those bookmarks? I did not actively back them up.

I will do a check Disk if I were you,

Go to your computer right click your operative system drive and press properties then go TOOLS and you will see something related with drive errors, check for drive error search plus bad sectores also,

after it done go back in time in your operative system for the closest time before the file blow up

Good luck =)

Yes, it automatically ran a chkdsk after the 2nd crash.

I'm not sure what you mean by "go back in time." Like a restore point?

Yes a restore point sorry for not be precise

Thank you, but the old profile was completely deleted from the roaming folder. System restore will not fix this.

No I don't. I've spent quite a lot of time researching the issue and must have gone through all the recommended steps in more than 10 of the most similar threads on these forums. I didn't find anyone with quite the same issue. I reluctantly went back to Chrome yesterday and it cleared up this and another issue I'd been having since the last ff update (mouse cursor temporarily freezing/hanging when moved from a stationary position).

The mouse issue is likely a CPU problem. Please try this; Install an older version of Firefox {web link}

Let us know the results.

If the mouse issue isn't present when running chrome or IE, then that seems like it should rule out any hardware issue, except inasmuch as being incompatible with FF. That said, I can't imagine a stock 3570k is causing an issue.

Anyway, the goal here was to see if the old bookmarks might be hiding out somewhere, and it doesn't look like they are. Thank you for trying to help.
