Firefox loading back to the homepage on Wordpress website

more options

Good day to everyone,

The last few days i have a problem with Firefox browser , which is loading back to my home page.

I've tried many different browsers and many different computers to resolve this issue. I think i have the answer to this problem, but i think firefox developers needs to check this one out.

When a wordpress site is using any kind of Ads then it is happening. I ve tried to disable the Ads plugin , and the browser worked just fine. I also tried Ad-Block and this also did the job and didn't load the page back.

So do you think there is any way of fixing this bug because this a serious problem for my websites. If you like check for yourself here: http://www.lifeadvancer.com

Hope to hear some good news from the developers, thank you for your time , i hope to help some more people with the same problem ;)

Hi there , thank you for the interest Fred.

I'm sure it's not the settings of the browser because i have 4 different computers with different user accounts, and it is happening to all of them.

When AD's plugin is disabled... all 4 computers start loading the website pages as normal. I'm not sure when this started, I've noticed this behavior last night.

with SAFE MODE problem is still there....

as long as there are google ads on the page :P

What is the ADS plugin you speek of? If you think it is causing the problem, disable it. Then contact its support site.

more options

the name of the plugin is Ad Injection

https://wordpress.org/plugins/ad-injection/

Ok, i can try to send a message to them, but do you think it's the plugin? because i didn t change or update anything related to this plugin

more options

Some programs "phone home" on their own for updates.

Good day Fred, I've tried a new google ads plugin, and it works just fine, no back-loading.

I'm waiting for the reply of the author of the "Ad injection" plugin now , before i change to a new one,.

Thank you for helping me out !! ;)

Some other Firefox 44 users reported sites going "back": one was Salon.com and another was Weather Underground. Perhaps there is one ad network common to the three that is causing the problem across the sites?

more options

This might be caused by the googlesyndication.com ad network, which is one of the options for that plugin. It seems to be causing peculiar back-forward issues on at least one other site.

As a temporary workaround, the reader can open article links in a new tab using one of these methods:

  • hold down the Ctrl key (Mac: Command key) when clicking a link
  • right-click (Mac: Ctrl+click) the link and choose Open Link in New Tab
  • if you have a middle button or scroll wheel on your mouse, middle-click the link

Alternately, another user reported that using the page in a private window bypasses this issue, probably because of the anti-tracking feature. For more information:

different websites , different plugins, different conditions, read u this thread: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/firefox-redirects-my-wordpress-pages-back-to-the-previous-ones?replies=26

Hi liquidtroll, there have been a few other threads on this forum as well, all related to servers that use the CloudFlare "Rocket Loader" feature. This is a server-side feature that I think would be very difficult to block individually, but the problem only occurs in combination with advertising scripts.
