Dear helpers, I'd like to ask if there is any way to open a new web adress that I type into the location bar in a new tab (instead of the existing one) when pressing enter. There are addons that do this, I know, but perhaps there is some about:config tweak I didn't hear about yet? Thanks for your help!

There is a key combo you can use (Windows but should work for Linux).

Simply type the web address you want to go to and press ALT + ENTER to open it in a new tab. I couldn't find anything in about:config that does this....Although I didn't look hard enough as the key combo should be sufficient, I hope.

It's just Alt + Enter. Ctrl isn't necessary.

Whow, you're fast! Thanks! Although I tend to be VERY lazy sometimes, the ALT key will be used until further notice. :-)
