I'd like to buy a Firefox OS device.

However I want to be sure that it has parental controls similar to Apple's iOS 7 in which Safari can be turned off or limited to browsing specific websites.

Also that the app store can be turned off.

Chosen solution

Firefox OS is in the early stages of development, therefore missing many features. It is not stable, so I'd look elsewhere.

Hi Zaanse,

Thanks Fleamour, we have just delivered v1.3 to partners to be more specific.

Production builds are quite stable, but they don't include the two features you requested (parental controls and removal/disabling of marketplace).

Thanks for these requests, I'll provide them to our UX team. If you are in US or UK, you can find Firefox OS devices on ZTEs Ebay storefront. You can also try it in Firefox desktop with the simulator https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firefox-os-simulator/

Hi Mluna,

Thanks for your reply.

I hope UX team can progress on providing parental controls.

iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Blackberry OS all currently provide them.

@MIchelle, when I say not stable, a lot of ZTE users are still languishing on 1.1. Not hating, 1.1 bought a stash of stability (0.1 was unusable.) I'm just really looking forward to 1.2 when 1.3 signed off. By my calculations this should be provided by ZTE the 28th April.
