Thanks for letting me know that the issue is with Facebook cause I understand what your issue is now. I too am a Facebook user and understand what is wrong now. Upon launch of Facebook you are asked to install the Facebook app, I did install it on mine and apparently after that one was installed, I was still prompted to install a second time and now I have 3 apps on my device for Facebook but I only use one. I will escalate to see how this issue can be resolved or if this is resolved in later versions.

Hi, When trying to reproduce this in the browser I am redirected to the mobile version of the site. If you add the facebook to the homepage, does this still prompt you for the "app"?I am using an LG version 1.1 and a ZTE Open 1.1, also tried 1.2.

What device are you seeing this happen on?

I'm seeing this on the ZTE Open running v1.1 When I visit facebook with the browser and I am asked if I want to install the app, I click the "cancel" option because I have no interest in installing the facebook app. After a few more visits to the facebook in the browser, I will be asked again if I want to install the facebook app and again, I will click 'cancel'.

The bug specifies that the app is installed to the homescreen; which is incorrect. On v1.1, only the useless "I thinking of..." is on the homescreen, and I chose "cancel" because I don't want to install anything.

My initial request for support involves permanently disabling the "feature" of allowing ANY website to ask if I want to install an app. The answer will always be "NO", so I don't want to be asked, ever.

As much as I would like all pop ups to go away as well and for them to remember my answer the first time, this is something I would bring up with facebook feedback as well. I know that there is an option to block pop ups from all websites in the desktop version of Firefox, but I do not know if this will be a feature in Firefox OS phones.

Is there a way for me to change the browser user-agent so that websites don't know I'm on FirefoxOS? If sites don't know I am on FirefoxOS, then they won't bother me about install useless applications when I am browsing the web.

It depends on which version you are on and if your phone is rooted.

In 1.3/1.4 : The file to override the ua for particular sites is located : /system/b2g/ua-update.json

in order to change a file on the system, you would have to remount the system partition. ie adb remount

I am not sure if this will resolve your initial question, though.

I'm running the "official" v1.1 for the ZTE Open. I would prefer to change the UA system wide, and not just for a few specific sites.
