Hello, I have my Firefox bookmarks separated by folders according to the theme. Every time I use the 'search bookmarks' option, firefox shows me all the hypotheses based on my search but hides the folders and doesn’t show me in which folder the bookmark I looked for is located. This way, I always have to do a search because I still don't know what folder it is in unless I remember it again or browse through all the folders until I find it. Is there any way to do this? Thank you.

Chosen solution

You can look at this extension

You can possibly open the bookmark in a tab and check the Folder line in the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog (click the highlighted star).

Thank you so much. That add-on solved my problem.

I don’t know why but many of my bookmarks when opened from my list don’t appear with the highlighted star. It's as if they weren't on my bookmark list at all. I don't know if it's because I go to the properties and change the longer names for shorter ones. It happens with some bookmarks and not with others. I still don't understand why. Regards,

Pedro

The star isn't highlighted when the URL that you see in the location bar is different than the URL in the bookmark because the server redirects to a new URL. A possible cause is older bookmarks that have the http:// protocol and are redirected to https://

Note that you can temporarily switch to "Work Offline" mode to prevent redirections (may not work with sites on the HSTS preload list).

You are absolutely right. It was the difference between http:// and https:// protocol. Thank you so much once again. Regards,

I followed the link suggested by cor-el to the download page for the add-on (Bookmark Search 2). There is a caution statement on the page that says "This add-on is not actively monitored for security by Mozilla. Make sure you trust it before installing." I have no way of independently verifying that this add-on is safe so I cannot install this add-on. Please do not recommend untested add-ons and in so doing make it look as though a solution is available when actually this problem has not been addressed.
