Thunderbird not downloading e-mails except one over & over

more options

My Thunderbird suddenly has suddenly stopped downloading my e-mails. Nothing updated or happened to cause it that I can think of. It says downloading 1 of 31 e-mails, but only seems to download 1, the same e-mail over & over again. So, it's only downloading multiple copies of the same 1 e-mail, but none others come through at all. I checked my Gmail where I'm having them transferred from & it is still downloading there. I tried updating to newer version (78.6.1) to see if that would help, but it's still doing the same thing. Thunderbird at the same time all this started happening also completely stopped checking another Gmail account that I have, saying the password is incorrect on that one even though it's the same as before.

Chosen solution

log into your mail provider using a browser. go to the spam folder and empty it. then try Thunderbird again.

The cause is a corrupt email your anti virus can not cope with. so downloads never complete, only start over and over.

Yes, thank you. I went into Gmail & deleted that e-mail & it's now letting the other mail through. My other e-mail it still is not checking though & is insisting the password is wrong, but at least 1 thing down.

Well what is the other account? Might as well try and fix it all. Do you have a VPN? What anti virus are you using?

Got it figured out, thank you.
