Can I disable an inbox(es) without removing associated account details?

I can't find any results about this, so not sure if it's a stupid idea. It does seem quite reasonable to me, though.

Does anyone know if it is possible to disable an inbox? (NOT delete)

Or has anyone come up with a reliable way of not displaying a specific inbox, but still having the account details saved? i.e. Disabled or hidden until I specifically click on it and list the e-mails.

I think it would be cool to have something like a hybrid unified/account view, so I can select which inboxes I want to unify or group into a 'view'?

I use unified inboxes, but I have a couple of accounts I don't need daily access to, but I still want to keep the account details stored so I can check on them if I need to.

(Also, is it worth asking Mozilla for a feature or is it just pointless?)

Anyone else think this would be of benefit to them?

Chosen solution

If you click the 3-bar menu icon in the upper right corner, Saved Search is under New (see picture), or press Alt to show the File menu if it's hidden.

You can disable checking for new mail at startup, periodic checks and 'Allow immediate...', but if the (IMAP) server supports PUSH notifications, you may still receive new mail automatically. POP accounts don't work that way. As for grouping inboxes or any other folders, try File/New/Saved Search and Choose... the folders and 'Match all messages', unless you wish to apply certain criteria.

Thank you for your quick response.

I couldn't find the menu option you described. But I did find a 'Search Messages... Ctrl+Shift+F' menu option, but I cannot select more than one inbox to search through.

However, if I right-click on the Unified Inbox folder, I can bring up the 'Folder Properties' and find a window entitled 'Edit Saved Search Settings for Inbox' which seems to do the things I want, but I can't find any option to create a new 'Saved Search Folder', otherwise, that would be perfect.

I am running Linux Mint 19.3, Xfce, Thunderbird v68.10.0 (64-bit).

Thanks again for your help.

I can't believe me... It was right in front of me, I just didn't check everything...

Ctrl+Shift+F > Enter details > 'Save as Search Folder'

I apologise for my blindness. Sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees.

Many thanks for making me doubt myself lol

Edit: This isn't the solution - It's just a single inbox message search :/ I jumped the gun, there.

Fantastic, thank you so much.

There's two 'New' menus lol

Update: I can create the search folders and mark them as favourites and change the view to 'Favourite Folders - Compact View' :) It's really clean.

Thanks again :D
