Hi,

I want to make a clean installation of thunderbird. Mail addresses, msgFilterRules.dat files and calendar data I want to use again. Mail addresses can be exported and imported later after installation. Or is there a way to use the abook.mab/impab.mab files again. Whats actually the difference between them? How about the calendar data? Can I just copy the calendar-data folder into the new profiles folder and will it work? The msgFilterRules.dat files can they be copied into the right new folders and than will the filters work?

I hope someone can help.

Regards

Rob

Chosen solution

The abook.mab (Personal Address Book) and history.mab (Collected Addresses) files can be copied from a backup into a new profile folder, with TB closed. Other address books, such as impab.mab, impab-1.mab etc. cannot be copied this way. Export them from TB as LDIF files and import them in the new profile (Tools/Import...).

Under Events & Tasks menu, Export... and Import... for calendars.

The msgFilterRules.dat files can be copied from a backup into an account subfolder of Mail or ImapMail in the profile, and also between accounts. The filters will work as long as the setup is correct, e.g. the target folders are defined in the new profile.
