Start page on local drive does not work across different devices

more options

I have a Firefox account, so my settings are shred across devices. But there is one thing that is a pain in the neck. I use a local start page, i.e. one stored on the local disk of each device I use. But this page is stored in a different location on each device. When I set the start page on one device, the setting doesn't work on my other devices. Suggestion: Don't sync the start page if it is a local html file. Or offer a setting to disable syncing of just this one setting.

Chosen solution

You can disable specific settings from syncing. You can do the following steps on all of your devices:

  1. Go to the about:config page in Firefox.
  2. Bypass the warning, if required.
  3. Find the services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.startup.homepage preference.
  4. Set it to false.

That should stop that setting from being set or received from Firefox Sync.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks. The proposed solution is even better than I expected. I expected that I have to apply this "don't sync" preference individually to each PC. Now I see that even this setting is propagated!  :-)
