I had established and used a Firefox sync account.

I had problems with my configuration so i disconnected my main computer and my laptop from logging in.

I now wish to establish the FireFox configuration on this computer as the template configuration, but if i log into the account i fear that those existing settings that contained fault somewhere are going to start downloading and over-riding these settings.

Would anyone out there be so kind as to advise how i can safely accomplish this while using my existing credentials, and if not possible, the least complicated alternative?

Thank-You for considering my problem!!!

Chosen solution

If you change the password of the Sync account then this should wipe all data on the Sync server, so if you connect one device at the time and let the first Sync finish properly then this should work, Note that Sync doesn't work as master/slave. All connected devices have the same status and data from each device is merged to the other connected devices.

Thank-you!

So considering your warning, as i reset my password using my main computer, so with the laptop i would want to be using a sterile copy of FireFox to sign in with, if i understand your warning about not being a Master/Slave situation?

You can reset the password using any computer, possibly directly via the Firefox Account login page. If you first connect the main computer to the account them at least you have this data on the Sync server and this data will be downloaded to other devices you connect later. However data on the other devices will also be uploaded to the main computer if that device it still connected, so you would have to disconnect the main computer once the initial sync has finished to prevent this (this can take quite some time if there is a lot of data to upload).
