64 bit install has sheild flag and will not open

Ever done something and wish you hadn't. I upgraded my 32 bit Firefox install to 64 bit and it's all gone horribly wrong. The Firefox icon has a wee shield on it and when I try to run it I'm constantly asked if I want Firefox to update my PC.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing several times with no success. It looks like I have 4 options

  • Forget using Firefox (don't want to do that)
  • Buy a new PC (can't afford that)
  • Plead with the experts on here to help me get it fixed.
  • Rollback my PC to yesterday!

I'm running windows 10 build 1903 on a Lenovo all in one PC. Please please please can someone help?

Hi Colin, is this possible:

(1) Call up the Properties dialog: right-click your Firefox desktop shortcut and click Properties
If it's pinned to the taskbar, right-click the icon, then right-click Firefox toward the bottom of the menu, then click Properties

(2) Click the Compatibility tab and if there is a check mark next to "Run this program as an administrator" uncheck that box and click OK to save the change

Does that help?
