thanks for your (2) worthless emails on my question last night. Let me make this extremely simple for you. Three days ago Firefox would open a URL link like this one https://people.ast.cam.ac.uk/~jds/preds20.pdf NO PROBLEM, now when I click on a link like this, absolutely NOTHING happens! PLEASE tell me in an understandable step by step way how to get Firefox to work like it use to and open this website along with MANY other websites.

Hi threetenbell, that is a very rude way to address forum volunteers. We are actual human beings, and we assume you are, too.

You didn't respond to my question in your original thread -- did you check the article?

Could you check your setting for PDFs: View PDF files in Firefox or choose another viewer. Does the "Open in Firefox" work on yours?

Sorry to hear that you are having issues.

It sounds like you want to open PDF files with the builtin Firefox PDF viewer, instead of downloading them or having them automatically open with an external program. It sounds like maybe the default action for PDF file handling has changed in the settings.

Fortunately, you can change this from the Firefox settings page. If you scroll down to the Applications section, you will see a list of the types of files that Firefox has encountered in the past. One of those Content types should be the Portable Document Format (PDF) type. You can change the Action to Open with Firefox.

Alternatively, you can select Always ask if you want to always chose what to do with the PDF file and you can also select an external PDF viewing program to open the PDF in instead, if you so desire.

Hope this helps.
