I had been a Firefox user for a very long time. And I used to store all my passwords in Firefox Lockwise. Everything was good until one day my computer froze while I was using Firefox. I had no other choice, but to restart my computer. After I restarted my device I found that Lost all my passwords. I tried many ways to get them back, but nothing worked. The thing that makes more confused is that all the password are still there in android Lockwise, But I could'nt sync it to my computer. I tried a lot and failed. Then I thought I will just start over and every time I wanted to login to something I would look in my phone and save it on my computer, I thought eventually I will get everything as before. But after a month same thing happened again. Still my passwords are safe on my phone, which has the same Firefox account as my computer, But my on my computer it shows "I have no passwords saved".. I tried all ways to sync my computer to my phone, Failed. I tried to change the 'login.jason.corrupt' file. Failed to work. So , what am I supposed to do to get the passwords back on my computer. Or get my android lockwise to sync with my computer. I am using Firefox on Ubuntu.

Thanks in advance..

Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.

You can install the About Sync extension in Firefox 72 and newer on desktop to check what data is stored on the Sync server via the about:sync page provided by this extension.

You may have to close and restart Firefox to access the about:sync page added by this extension (see the about:about page for available about pages).

Thanks man.. Installing the official Firefox worked ... But then I will have to figure out a way to sent all my themes,customization,tabs,add-ons,etc to the new one .. That might take some time. Its fine.. Thanks a lot..

You can copy files like these with Firefox closed to the current profile folder to recover specific data.

  • bookmarks and history: places.sqlite
  • favicons: favicons.sqlite
  • bookmark backups: compressed .jsonlz4 JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder
  • cookies.sqlite for the Cookies
  • formhistory.sqlite for saved autocomplete Form Data
  • logins.json (passwords) and key4.db (58+) or key3.db (57 and older) (decryption key) for Passwords saved in the Password Manager
if you only have key3.db then make sure to remove an existing key4.db
  • cert9.db (58+) or cert8.db (57 and older) for (intermediate) certificates stored in the Certificate Manager
if you only have cert8.db then make sure to remove an existing cert9.db
  • persdict.dat for words you added to the spelling checker dictionary

I have been using Firefox for a long time too. It seemed like a standard update but it was Firefox Lockwise that I installed, all of my years of saved password are just gone and it is not syncing the new ones I have had to re-create. This is not the Firefox I know and love. I don't have time to re- do all of this I am a full time manager and full time business student. Firefox please help! Melanie F

Go to Option Menu, then choose the first option. Then click sync now.

Or

Go to Option Menu > Help > Troubleshooting Information > click open folder next to Profile Folder > then cut and paste key4.db and logins.json to some other location. Now restart FireFox

Or

Try uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox.
