Looking for same behavior as in Outlook. Want to send BCC but I need it to look more "personalized"

Chosen solution

A Bcc is a 'Blind Carbon copy' of the original email sent TO a person. The idea is that the person listed in 'TO' field gets their email and those listed in 'Bcc' are not disclosed to the person in TO field nor any other person.

The Bcc copied in person will not see that the email was sent TO them in the header as they were copied in on an email sent TO someone else. So the Bcc is only seeing a Copy of something sent TO someone else. Therefore you cannot personalise it because it is not part of the original copy.

If sending out a list and all persons are sent as Bcc, then it is an undisclosed list. Bcc is not a disclosed email address. It means no one sees any ones email address. TO and Cc are disclosed, so you will see them.

What you can do is operate this from a different angle. You can use a Template to work with an addon called 'Mail Merge' that uses data from a specific address book or csv file to send out personalised emails. So you create one template email, but Mail Merge actually sends each email in a 'TO' field, so allowing personalisation.

Take a look at this:

At the moment the people looking after the website are trying to stop spammers and aer causing a huge amount of problems for people responding to questions in the forum. eg: you cannot post links. So I'm having to send you a SUMO message that contains the Mail Merge link to addon.

Thank you for your answer, it helped me. I don´t want to send spams. I just wanted to send email to 20 people and wanted to look like I´m sending the message directly to them not in bulk. I think Mail Merge is going to help me.

Thanks again. Have a good day

Can we make a petition to ask to change to the previous version the addressing of composing new emails? It seems a lot of people prefer the v68 style which was much faster

sraros Petition will not be happening and there is no going backwards. People like the old style only because it is what they are used to hence why they think it is faster. In reality, it is not faster. The new version has far less clicks, I know because I've tested and counted. The new version is also significantly better for lists that previously meant entering commas. Now that is done automatically.

I also was not happy at first because it meant learning something new and that meant a slow down in the beginning as you get to grips with it.

I suggest you read the information that people have taken the time to produce for users who would prefer a refresher in how things work. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/addressing-email

Please note, that development in this area has not stopped and additional functionality is being looked into to improve such things as automatically setting Cc so it is open already for those users who repeated Cc contacts as used in many business environments. So there is more to come in the future.
