Hi p clarke, for some reason your Firefox is identifying itself as version 57, while the current release is Firefox 76. Is it possible your Firefox hasn't effectively updated since November 2017? That seems hard to believe.

Can you try using a fresh download from Mozilla's site instead of the built-in updater and see whether that works better: Install Firefox on Linux.

Note: Your Firefox data is stored in your profile folder. Don't delete that folder. If you are concerned about potential data loss, please make a backup. See: Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.
