How to unsubscribe from Firefox mailing list when I'm locked out of my account?

more options

Recently I've begun getting a few emails a week from Firefox. When I follow the link to unsubscribe, I'm prompted to log into my account. When I log in, I'm prompted to confirm my account via a verification link sent via email. However, that email to my iCloud account never arrives. I've tried repeatedly to have it resent without success. I've had a case escalated via Apple support up to their engineering department, and they say the email isn't getting filtered by them but in fact never reaches their servers, so there's nothing they can do. So now I'm stuck on this mailing list because I can't access my account. Blocking me from leaving the list seems illegal per the CAN-SPAM act. Even being able to log in here seems short-lived, since it appears that tomorrow (16 March) my Mozilla support account will be merged into that same Firefox account that I can't access. Unbelievable, really.

The irony isn't lost on me: I can't stop getting email from Firefox because I'm not getting the verification email from Firefox. I see the dark humor, but this is a problem that needs to be resolved. I don't know where else to turn for help, so hoping someone here can provide some guidance. The real ask here is not to just get off the mailing list (I could set up a filter to automatically delete it, though I shouldn't have to do that) but instead to be able to receive the email to verify my account or, barring that, get help changing the email address on the existing account to one that can actually receive the email, e.g. my Gmail account.

You are using the unsubscribe link in the email footer? Try using another browser. Right-click the unsubscribe link and copy it (e.g., Copy Link Location or whatever option is listed). Then paste it into the address bar of Chrome or Safari and see whether you can get to the unsubscribe page without going through your Firefox account. (I tested in Edge on Windows 10.)

Note: the link should not be shared on this forum.

By the way, I don't know why the email isn't received in your iCloud email account. Unfortunately, in order to add a secondary email account, and then swap them, you do need to receive messages on your current primary email account.

It's definitely not a browser issue. I can follow the unsubscribe link from the email footer just fine. No matter which device and/or browser, the link always makes me log in. And I can log in just fine -- up to the point that it wants me to follow a verification link supposedly sent to my email, because that email never arrives. (See attached screenshot.) As I said, the verification email never even reaches the iCloud server, so it's not just going to my junk mail or whatever. It's an issue at the Firefox/Mozilla end or, barring that, somewhere in between.

The missing email is the issue, and I'm sure only Firefox/Mozilla themselves can help. I'm hoping someone from that team will respond to this question, since there's no way I can find to ask them directly.

Okay, I don't know why you have that experience. Sorry. Hopefully someone else can help.

That did it for unsubscribing from the newsletter(s). Thanks! Still doesn't explain why I'm not getting the verification emails and therefore can't get into my account, but that wasn't how I phrased my question. (Would still love info on that, since it seems I won't even be able to post in this forum after tomorrow when the accounts are merged, and I'm not going to create a new account just for Firefox.)

The deadline for using a Firefox Account (FxA) for login to this forum has been pushed back to Mar 23.

I had a problem last week with the "merge" of the account for here and an existing FxA, which I was able to solve, which when I discovered that date was pushed forward a week.
