deleting message also deletes attachments

When I use Thunderbird, when I have a message with attachments, I delete the message, are the attachments also deleted when I delete the message? Presumably yes, but I'd like to be sure

When you delete an email, that will include deleting any attachments in that email.

Remember to compact folders after you have deleted several emails, so that the 'marked as deleted' and hidden emails are fully removed.
