Chosen solution

Hi, try downloading the latest Release version from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release Note that under 'Which browser would you like to download?' - Make sure that 'Firefox' is selected. Your existing version should be overwritten by the new (Release) one.

You do not subscribe or sign up for anything to use the Beta channel builds of Firefox.

Wherever you downloaded Firefox from the Firefox setup .exe likely had a b# on end of version. The # being the beta build number of that version. The current Beta for example is 71.0b8

A Firefox version on Release channel would never update to a build on the separate Beta channel.

Thanks. It solved it. I had a beta version installed. That's y I was automatically signed up for the beta tests

When I followed the instructions for installing the latest released version of Firefox, I was not able to install it over the beta version. I do not want to create a new profile. How do I install the latest released "over the beta version" without creating a new profile?

Firefox will normally prevent you to downgrade a profile as this can cause to issues when newer Firefox versions have updated various files and setting to new schemes.

You can use the -allow-downgrade command line switch to override this.

Thank you for your response, but I fear you attribute much more technical sophistication than I possess. You told me "use the -allow-downgrade command line switch to override this." I followed the link but remain ignorant as to the steps I must take to remove myself from the beta channel. Sorry to be so high maintenance, but could/would someone be patient enough to guide me through the steps to accomplish removal beta channel?

What I did was, I uninstalled the beta version I had completely and reinstalled the latest non-beta version. It's also known as Firefox Standard release. The latest version right now is 73.0.1. Hope that helps
