What is the merit of Lockwise (which needs an add-on) versus Firefox Logins with Master Password which is integral to Firefox??
Hi... I already use Firefox with a master password to store logins... this is an inherent feature of Firefox and syncs across devices works well ... So what does Lockwise offer that is different/better? .. and why does it need an add-on to Firefox??? G.

Currently, it's an extension because it's experimental. Eventually, the plan is to replace the default login and password manager with Firefox Lockwise so that you don't need the add-on anymore.
As far as the differences over the default password manager, I don't really see any major differences. I believe the plan is to eventually add more features to it. I do find the interface on Lockwise a little better and it's slightly easier to modify information.
The biggest change comes for mobile devices. On both Apple and Android, you can set the Firefox Lockwise app to fill your passwords in on any app. This would prevent the need for an external password manager.
Firefox Lockwise is already builtin in Firefox 68+ via the about:logins page.
You can modify/create these prefs on the about:config page to enable builtin Firefox Lockwise in Firefox 68 and 69.
- signon.management.page.enabled = true
- signon.management.overrideURI = about:logins?filter=%DOMAIN%
You may have to create the latter as a new String pref.
You can reset the prefs to get the legacy password manager.
- signon.management.overrideURI
- signon.management.page.enabled = false
You can use "Logins and Passwords" in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button to access the currently selected password manager (Lockwise or legacy) via about:logins. Lockwise opens in a new tab.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
PLEASE HELP. I HAVE TRIED TO MOVE ALL MY WORK TO FOXFIRE BUT THERE ARE ISSUES WITH ME, PROBABLY NOT FIREFOX.
Number 1 - Icannot get LockWise to create new passwords. I have been seriously hacked and that's is why I was moving from Chrome. Apparently my old passwords are out everywhere to I consider this URGENT Please.!
