Can not display my Samsung tablet User Guide

more options

I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 tablet. In the settings, the user manual opens a web page at the following address: https://www.samsung.com/m-manual/common/

With Google Chrome set by default, the user manual is displayed correctly in my language. But with Firefox set as the default browser, a web page opens with the message "The user manual is not available in your selected language." Obviously my language is not detected. In the Firefox settings, I replaced the "default system language" with "french", but the result is the same. Can you help me out? Thanks in advance.

Chosen solution

With my Samsung Galaxy J5 Pro, I have Firefox as default browser, but the 'user manual' selection in Settngs brings the manual up in Samsung Internet, not Firefox.

Perhaps the Question Owner has disabled Samsung Internet? (I don't think it can be readily uninstalled).

Once I open the manual on Samsung Internet I can copy the URL that includes coding of the model number, then paste it into Firefox, which brngs up the correct manual. Easy then to save that as a bookmark for future use.

You'll still need to run S. Internet once to get the URL, though if it works in Chrome you could make that your default browser temporarily to copy the URL. Good luck.

Hi

I have tried to open that link using a desktop version of Firefox in English, and it will not open.

I recomend going back to Samsung to check to make sure that is the correct address.

Hi, Thanks for answering. This adress can't be modified, it's provided by the system when typing on the "user manuel" line on the bottom of the settings. This adress doesn't work using a computer. I've also tried with Firefox, Chrome and Edge with no result. It only works with a Samsung Android device, and only with Chrome or Samsung browser, not with Firefox. I suppose that the source code of the web page reads the model device and redirects to the specific user guide. With my Galaxy S4 tablet it shows the SM-T830 user guide (redirected to this adress: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/MC/201808/20180831093850102/FR/Fre/start_here.htm), and with my Galaxy A5 smartphone it shows the SM-A510 user guide.

Hi

I think I know what Samsung is doing.

When you connect to the web using anything (phone, tablet, computer, television etc), the webpage sends a quick invisible request to the device to ask "what are you?". This allows the page to be displayed properly for that device.

Part of that information can reveal information about the exact model of device being used. I know from other work I have done that the device information displayed from Samsung mobile phones does give the exact model number, which is how they are limiting the help files to particular devices.

I do not have a Samsung phone or tablet, so I am not sure what more I can do to help at this stage, but I hope this helps explain what is happening.

I agree with you. The question is : why does it work with Samsung browser and Google Chrome, but not with Firefox ?

Hi

The only thing I can think of is that Samsung has used the same approach to limit which browsers can see that file to the two (Samsung browser and Chrome) that I believe they install by default.

I've just tried one more time and now it works exactly like you ! I guess Samsung has improved something in the last update because I have no other explanation (I reported the problem to their technical support). Thanks a lot for your help !
