You'd need to be a little more specific about your problem. Also see https://support.mozilla.org/kb/cannot-receive-messages

Thunderbird does not change the account type. So it's more likely you had an IMAP account all along.
changed them back manualy.
You cannot change an existing account. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/faq-changing-imap-pop
If you have a backup of your Thunderbird profile created prior to this mess, I'd simply restore that.

thank you very much.
all back again now!!
I have also lost all of my emails since the August Windows 10 upgrade. I have tried performing a reinstall of my backup files, but that didn't help at all. Any ideas on how to get these files back again? It would be great if Mozilla would help out here.
Any time windows performs an upgrade, I check settings right away,on all my apps just in case. I found that the length of time Emails are kept, changes, and that the button for delete is activated. its a shame we can't trust even software upgrades!
