Has anyone found a way to re-enable the status/add-on bar on Firefox Quantum?
I decided to finally try Firefox Quantum hoping that some of the features that were removed from the previous versions would have finally made their way by now, but right after installing it I got stuck trying to restore the status/add-on bar.
The only thing I found was a way to place a bottom bar using userChrome.css: http://www.optimiced.com/en/2018/02/11/restore-status-bar-in-firefox-quantum/ But this is pretty much useless as it doesn't allow me to move any button to it.
Has anyone found a solution to this issue? I've read a forum post somewhere from last year saying that some code would be introduced to Firefox that would allow extensions to fix this issue—is it true? Was it done?
Back to Firefox 56 for now.

Over the last dozen years, Mozilla has been removing many features from Firefox that make it a great web browser.
So far, many of what was removed were replaced with well- written add-ons. Then came Quantum, and all that was undone.
I am still using v54 because I refuse to lose my add-ons.
Note: If you installed any Quantum versions, the database formats were changed making them not backward compatible. (But there is a way around that.)

I used a virtual machine to try Quantum. I've been very careful to do not update Firefox and mess with my profile.
I was thinking for a while that it was time to jump ship and find another browser, but then I realized that none of the modern browsers offer what Firefox 56 offers me.
Someone suggested me Waterfox (https://www.waterfoxproject.org), which supports the old Firefox extensions and thus allows the use of a status/add-on bar. Perhaps I will try it, but I admit that small projects like this make me feel I will be looking for another solution soon again.
I use Classic Theme Restorer, but it's no longer available on Mozilla.

Nice that there are initiatives like this, but what I want to know is if someone already came up with a solution to fix this issue on Firefox Quantum.
If there are no solutions yet, it would be good to know if this is something that might become possible on future versions of Firefox Quantum, because then I would simply wait instead of start looking for an alternative to Firefox.

The code for the status bar has been removed in Firefox 57, so it is no longer possible to have a toolbar that can be used to customize.

You would need some advanced JavaScript code to restore this toolbar.

It looks very complicated, but it gives me some hope. I will try to use this fix someday when I have time, thanks!
I wonder if anyone has ever tried this and if it worked well for them.

@stuckon56 to make any changes you want to the look or style of firefox requires finding "userChrome.css" edits to make those changes or program your own userChrome.css to make your own changes.
