I've asked this before but haven't gotten any solutions. It's driving me nuts.

Middle clicking with my mouse won't autoscroll. I've done all the following:

Safe mode Uninstall completely including all appdata folders and registry data Autoscrolling is selected Smooth scrolling is selected I used a different mouse I used the same mouse on a different computer with firefox and it did work on it I uninstalled my mouse drivers and programs Hardware acceleration isn't causing the issue Middle click does work as a button and it works in chrome.

What's causing this?

Just tried. Nope.

When I do the middle click, it shows the up/down scroll circle briefly then disappears. Like, less than a second briefly. I don't know if that means anything but I realise I left that detail out.

Have you tried the click and hold button then move mouse method?

That is how autoscroll middle button used to work, I know that on many systems now its click and then you can let go and move themouse, but if the scroll symbol appears then disappears, try holding it down and moving up or down?

If I do that, it will move down or up maybe an inch or two for a fraction of a second then it disappears even if I'm holding the button down.

There have been already five replies in this thread, so it doesn't make sense to close this thread and continue in an older thread that hadn't had activity during past months.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect.

That "older" thread was started only two months ago and had way more replies than this one - hence my request. This thread had to be "bumped" before anybody even posted a reply.

Just tried. No luck.
