I can not see an image that I included in my mail itself, thus not an attachement
When I send an email to a group of friends, included myself, with an image in the email ( not as an attachement) i noticed that I could not see the image, i could only see the name that I gave the image
Chosen solution
I did it that way, but I heard from my contacts that they can not see the image; the only thing I can see, when I am testing in a mail to myself, is the alternative text

When you originally inserted the image into the body of the email:
- Insert > Image
- Choose the file
- select 'Attach this image to the message' ----- if you do not select this option it will only look like a black outline box.
- add alternative text
- make any other options you require
- click on 'OK' to insert the image.

Is this an image you took and saved on computer or one you downloaded/copied from a webpage etc and stored on computer?
It is an image saved on my computer
an image I made myself
Please send an email to me with the image inserted as usual:
- mail at anje dot co dot uk
note: I do not use that email address for anything other than testing purposes. All communication will be through this forum.

Email received. No image ...as expected. I notice that you appear to be creating the email using html because the Formatting Bar is visible in an earlier posted image. Also you cannot use 'Insert > Image into a Plain text email.
However, having viewed the source code, you are only sending emails in Plain text format which strips all html.
Please check your sending options: 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Composition' > 'General' tab click on 'Send Options..' button see image below as guide. select 'Send the message in both plain text and HTML' click on OK
click on OK
Restart Thunderbird repeat creation of email with Insert > Image and send again to me as before.
Thank you very much. Happy New Year
