When I compose an email, *every time* I press Enter, the damn thing switches my Body Text to Paragraph. It used to happen to replies, but it could be manually set and it would stay. Since the update this morning, it's working like crap. What can I do besides rolling back a version?

I'm not seeing this with TB 60.3/W10. If the box 'Use Paragraph format instead of Body Text by default' is unchecked in Tools/Options/Composition/General, then the format doesn't change to Paragraph when I press Enter - it stays Body Text. If your setting is the same and it still happens, run in safe mode (hold Shift when you launch TB) and see if anything changes.

Thank you, that did the trick. It was very annoying, and to be the default is crazy. Now that I know it's there, I'mm check my other systems too.

Sorry, but what you have suggested as a "fix" isn't a fix. It's a bug that Mozilla MUST FIX NOW. I cannot send any emails out now due to this bug that the Mozilla Code writers screwed up with, and they need to FIX IT NOW. This is now way beyond annoying, as I cannot compose an email now, and NOTHING WORKS. I do not understand how Mozilla's Code team has allowed this crap to go un-noticed and not fixed by now. This is NOT acceptable, and Mozilla needs to get this BUG PATCHED IMMEDIATELY. Thunderbird is BUGGY, and flawed now, and someone screwed up big time by failing to notice this. We end-users do, and yet Mozilla does not. GET THIS FIXED.

Oh, and I will add that the SHIFT KEY to put Thunderbird in Safe Mode does NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. It's still there, and Thunderbird continues to be BUGGY and POORLY WRITTEN. (I have used TB for more than 15 years, and the fact that Mozilla still doesn't have a well-written Email Client program after all these years is astounding.) FIX THIS NOW!!!!!

Same here. Inside an hour, I updated to 60.3.xx and then to 60.4.0, and got the same problem with every CR changing Text to Paragraph. Unchecking the box as suggested fixed the problem, but under what logic should CR change any setting? That makes no sense; it is completely counter-intuitive and should be fixed.

Never screw up the basics - it's utterly annoying. You just don't happen to hear all the cursing.
