I am sorry to hear that your bookmarks are not visible, let's see if we can look for them together. I first noticed that you were on Firefox version 50. In the more recent versions of Firefox there was a change in the way bookmarks were encrypted.

Do you have access to the profile folder - I think we may be able to find an older version of the encrption, but first I want to ask if you can export the bookmarks that you do have with the html export tool built into the Bookmarks library feature (it should be there in version 50)

Can you please share the file extension of the bookmarks file that you found? This will give me a better idea of what to recommend next.

Also are there any 'Old Firefox Data' folders on your Desktop, keep that it will come in handy.

I can't find the bookmarks library. The bookmarks file I found is

I have done a search of the computer for bookmarks.html and bookmarks.bak and found nothing.

There is no old firefox data file.

Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

If Firefox can't process the file, you could try converting it to the HTML "export" format using my page here:

I can't find a bookmarks button. I did somehow find the library earlier, but can't find it again now.

Converting didn't work.

Okay, this is starting to sound like a different problem.

Your Firefox identified itself as Firefox 50, but you mentioned upgrading to a new version. Did you downgrade from a newer version? In that case, your Places database, where Firefox stores bookmarks and history, might be incompatible with version 50. There is NO fix for that, unfortunately. It would be best to upgrade back to a currently supported version of Firefox.

You can view your current version of Firefox, and your update history, on the Troubleshooting Information page. Either:

• "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
• (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
• type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table on the page, there should be a button for Update History.

Did you downgrade Firefox because that can lead to a corrupted places.sqlite database file that can cause all kinds of issues with the bookmarks. Recent Firefox versions store the favicons no longer in places.sqlite, but stores them in a separate file (favicons.sqlite).

If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync temporarily during troubleshooting.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

• use "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page
  in case errors are reported close and restart Firefox and retry

Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from a recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

There is nothing in the update information. I have no idea what version of Firefox I had before. What I did was follow a link from Facebook that was at the top of their page saying I would get better performance by upgrading my browser and I think it installed a new copy of firefox instead of upgrading it.

So what version do you have now?

Can you update to Firefox 62 now: Update Firefox to the latest release.

When I click check for updates it tells me I am up to date. I've checked this before and that is always what it tells me.

Your current installation indicated it is a 32-bit version running on 64-bit Windows.

If you are inclined to switch to the 64-bit version AND you have Microsoft Office installed, as a precaution, temporarily change your default browser to Internet Explorer until the new version is up and running.

Yea! It worked! I now have version 62.0.2 and my bookmarks are back. Thank you everyone for all the help.

Firefox 57+ has squared off tabs. There are ways to curve them, but we should start a new thread for that because it gets involved.

When you say the games are really large, I'm not sure what you mean. Often these games use the Flash plugin and I can't think of a reason for Flash to behave differently in Firefox 62 vs. Firefox 50. Does it make any difference if you reset the zoom level? Usually if your zoom is not 100%, the current level is shown in a circle in the address bar -- that's also a reset button.

Actually, looking at one of the games the items line up better so I think I may have been getting the wrong size before and am now getting the right size. I'm just not used to it. Thanks again.
