I would like to return my homescreen to the old style tabs

more options

I'd like to return the old bigger tabs, showing the content of the webpage. A little google-search shows the fact that I should change the boolean browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.aboutHome.enabled to false, but this boolean is simply not available on my current version of FireFox. I am on 60.0.1 (64-bit) Please assist.

browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.aboutHome.enabled is a pref that was used in Firefox 57 thru 59. Firefox 60 did away with that preference.

You may be able to customize that via userChrome.css as mentioned by Pkshadow, but it's far easier to just set a different Homepage. If you do want to use userChrome to customize that, make sure you get the code needed for Firefox 60, and not what worked in 57 - 59.

Hello Pkshadow, Hello the-edmeister,

Thank You very much for your answers, your support is highly appreciated. I do not know userChrome.css but hardly think that such should be necessary to solve such a simple task. The 'Show Tab Previews in the Windows Task Bar' is set, but does not solve this issue.

In my 'not yet updated' version of Firefox, my homepage was set to be shown when Firefox starts and when I open a new tab. It showed 10 (or so) most used websites and a preview of the content of those sites. These were quite big 'buttons'. My Firefox has now been updated to version 60 and the 'buttons' are small, 16 in total and only showing content in a few cases, in other cases just an icon.

As I find others asking this question for older versions of Firefox, I am not the only one annoyed with the new look. I am convinced it should be possible to get the old look back with installing add-ons and learning the insert or change code. Hopefully somebody will be able to provide that solution, I am sure others will appreciate this too.

with best regards, Ruud Westerhout

As was said, Firefox Support Volunteers do not have the code that is need to change what you are looking to do at this time.

There are no add-ons that are allowed to do what your asking any more :

Maybe in the future if a Developer gets their code passed.

Why not stick the Zoom Controls out using Customize and increase the page size with that and will be big.

Once more I say thanks for the support.

I decided to go a two way 'solution'. First of all I went back to Version 59.0.3, all looking well again, few.

And secondly I decided to give this add-on a try. Looks like it takes quite some time to get the new tab to look as I want, but in the end I might stick with it. For now I am just playing around with it, configuring it.

Thanks all. Even though the solution might not be as I expected, I mark this problem solved.
