Hi,

This is such a big problem now when almost all you do is looking into guides to make firefox work etc instead of using it.

This is a joke and I am using Chrome now. In the past it was plugin container and now there is very high memory usage with just 9 windows open. Is there nothing that works in a simple and reliable way without having sit hours and hours REGULARILY month after month trying to have a pc with browsers work properly !!?? This is just crazy.

Hi, sorry having a issue. Should always contact Support for Help as that is what we do as Volunteers.

The Plugin Container issue/s were fixed with Quantum and by not allowing add-ons so much access to Firefox system files which were causing Firefox to crash.

As to memory issues well we have a few things to try if your willing to.

Please Copy/Paste about:preferences#privacy into the Address Bar then Enter. Go down to the Heading called Permissions and at the bottom of that heading please make sure there is a Check Mark in the box to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser.

Then please go up to General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 can try higher and down again to find the sweet spot. Restart Firefox after making these changes please. Note : Hardware Acceleration is for Video Card, Monitor your video screen to see if it should remain off or to turn back on.

As no info came regarding your Extensions/add-ons you can see if they have anything to do with your issue by doing this : SAFE MODE

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
  • default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
  • default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
  • Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
  • hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected

TEST''''is issue still there ?

So please let us know how you made out with these things and will provide more help when you ask.

Hi pkshadow,

Thanks for your advice it helped. Directly after changes everything got lighter/quicker. So it seems problem solved. I didnt even need to look into the possibility of it being an addon problem.
