Today 20.04.2018 Firefox suddenly lost information of all sites where I was logged in, what could be the problem? OS Win7x64 Firefox ver. 59.0.2 x64 Antivirus nod32 ver. 6 Cookies are all in place. Can't be sure about contens of those cookies, but at least there are some from the sites I was logged in. Didn't use any cleanup software since last week.

Chosen solution

This happens when your cookies are cleared.

A detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie. When you remove the Cookies from websites then this makes websites forget about you.

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Cookies
  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an "Allow" exception you may want to keep

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.

As far as I know just the login statuses was removed. History and autofilling info are intact. Nothing unusual happened. I switched on my PC in the morning and read a few news articles and etc. from the sites I usually visit, then switched my PC to hybernation mode and when I returned a few hours later - login status from every site was removed. Nobody else has access to my PC so it couldn't be someone's prank. I suspected I caught some malware and scanned my PC using nod32 but it found nothing. If needed I can attach my browsing history from this morning, since there is nothing confidential.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
