I need to change my email account and delete my old one, is there any way I can save all of my saved emails before I do this?

I have an @me.com email account but would like to convert all of my emails from a different account over either to that one, or just to somewhere where I can save them in case I need to reference them. I am not sure if the thunderbird account I have is a POP account or not. thanks

Copy them to the Local Folders account.

How do I do that?

You can select one or more messages and then drag-and-drop to the new location. Or select them and then use right-click|Copy to….

Some users report success by drag-and-drop of entire folders (rather than individual messages.) I don't know if this is supposed to work. It may do, but could give trouble if you have large folders or folders with other folders nested within. I'd always use the right-click method myself and be cautious with the amount of material being moved at any time.

Another approach, that I haven't tried for myself, might be to export the required folders and then re-import them into Local Folders. You may find the ImportExportTools add-on useful here.
