I wanted to view www.gop.com and just a blank page appears. No error message. I tried both http and https with same result. I tried the troubleshooting suggestions for support, but the same result. This page opens just fine using Chrome and MS Edge, so the site is valid and online.

I had no problem with the link.

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Thank you for the suggestion.

I did what you said, checked I was in safe mode, and still the link does not open for me. I just see a blank white page. I then went to Google and did a search (while still in safe mode) and several links appear for different sections of the website. I clicked on each one and for each I just ended up on a blank white page. The address bar did reflect the various different links for the website sections, but none produced any content.

I find this so strange as this never happened before with any other site. While this is the first time I have tried to reach this website, I did use the same link in MS Edge and Chrome and everything works with no hesitation. It is only Firefox that gives me a blank page and no further details or error messages.

It isn't mission critical because I can use another browser if I really want to go to this page again. I am glad to know Firefox isn't blocking it.

Hi, it appears to be an issue that only affects users who have turned off cleartype font rendering within their windows settings. So a workaround for the moment would either be to turn cleartype back on or disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox: Firefox's performance settings This may or may not be the issue. Please report back if it is.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Thanks for the response ...

I checked the setting for cleartype fonts in my Windows 10 settings, and I had not turned it off, but went through the full setup again just to be doubly sure. No change, still blank pages.

Then I checked the Firefox settings after using its search to find where the hardware acceleration was located. It was set to use it, so I unchecked Use hardware acceleration where available. Checked again, but still blank pages.

Next, I closed Firefox to be sure it pulled in the unchecked hardware acceleration change, and also started Firefox in safe mode to mitigate any add-on issues, but no difference.

I then went to the email I had received with a link to a survey that started all this, clicked the link and still could not see anything but a blank page and no error messages.

The link: https://gop.com/national-voter-target-survey?utm_medium=email&utm_source=ET_16&utm_campaign=20180317_3705_national-voter-survey_trumpheadquarters_rnc&utm_content=gop_surveys_text_take_bottom_other_all

Safe mode or not, the same blank page. Also, typing http just forwards to https. I tried that myself just to see.

Ok, URL checks out ok https://www.virustotal.com/#/url/a5d0fe8f9bfb3d40b71d3a41acc9bb17130298981062f36a3724d6dd38024dea/detection

Still in case there was a hidden something in the email : Please use more than 1 scanner as each uses diff tech :

Save your Report and google each before deleting anything as do not want to delete something you need, If need help :

Post in only 1 forum, then wait.

If having no issues any where else I would suggest doing nothing. If determined try 7min fix : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.1 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.

  • make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version

There is Tracking Protection that can block (wanted) content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove the Cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Clear the cache:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the Cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> "Use custom settings for history" -> cookies: "Show cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Long delay in responding, but I was running through all the steps offered above.

The good news is that I have no malware installed on my computer after using different malware apps (my favorite being MalwareBytes). I do regular and frequent full scans on my computer all the time, so good to know that is working well.

All extensions are (were) updated, and even starting Firefox in safe mode didn't make any difference. I restarted my computer in between each malware/virus check.

I went through the Firefox menu and discovered the Inspector tool and using that while loading the gop.com site, the network tab of that tool displayed two errors (while the actual page was completely blank). The first was a redirect permanently error, which I suppose was ok because if you enter http it automatically directs you to https, but the second one surprised me. It was a 403 error. As this is a public website, and readily available on my other web browsers, I don't understand why Firefox is rendering this error.

Unless that means something to anyone else, I am ready to give up on this. As I am not in the habit of going to that website, and no other website I have ever used in the past has given me this strange problem, I am considering it a fluke and not going to waste any more time on it. I suppose it will always niggle at the back of my mind for an explanation, but so be it.

I appreciate the suggestions I have received here. Thanks so much.
