How do you know what you should not know?
Just to clarify from the start: I don't fancy Quantum and will stick with my 55.0.3 (64-bit) of which I have and see no problems with. Please refrain from telling me off.
My concern:
I always updated Firefox at my convinience (see image lower red arrow) Once Quantum was released, I get recurrent threats of an alleged "critical out of date..." (see upper arrow).
How can that be if the option of non-updating is still in place? It indicates Mozilla is running something in the background. It raises a suspicion whether other things on the system may be scrutinized with this hidden "check" too.
Wonder which previous versions were already affected from this kind of spy- or malware behaviour. However, this is a serious breach of our privacy and much more a security threat than something "critical" to come.
Please stop it.
Thanks.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there aren't connections happening in the background...
If you do not want the occasional message or survey delivered through the "heartbeat" feature -- identified by the heart icon -- see: Rate your Firefox experience, surveys and out of date messages (Heartbeat).
More generally: How to stop Firefox from making automatic connections.

I'm still using v54. So far no problems.
Separate Security Issue: Update your Flash Player Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).
Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.
Flash Player Version: Version 28.0.0.137
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Direct link scans current system and browser Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, Win IE . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only> +++++++++++++++++++ See if there are updates for your graphics drivers https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

Beg your pardon?
57k answers, I see.
Well in this case you really deserve for an almost constant second life and this professional "courtesy" those silly badges from Mozilla.

I see, nobody is made aware of during installation. No regular opt out after except a cryptic exit unexperienced users shall keep their hands off anyway.
Very fishy.
Many programs want to nest their extras in the taskbar or elsewhere. Good ones ask for permission first, loud and clear!

Many definitions are accredited to the word 'paranoid', but people tend to forget that the most common definition of the word is 'to be overly suspicious or distrustful of others or situations'. Not an insult, merely an observation.
