When CTRL+F Searching for Words, it now always enables "Match-Case". How can I set the default to "Not Match-Case". It's intolerable.

more options

As the title says. I want a way to permanently disable the Match Case.

Could you try this:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste case and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the accessibility.typeaheadfind.casesensitive preference is bolded and "modified" or "user set" to 1, right-click it and click Reset to restore the default value of 0 (that's a zero)

Reference: Firefox crtl-F "find" feature always start with "Match Case" automatically enabled

If that change doesn't stick the next time you start Firefox, see: How to fix preferences that won't save.

Yes. Couldn't find it. If that was sarcasm, kindly put me out of my misery please, & directly explain where it is if I've missed it.

No not sarcasm just wondering if you looked for it there yet. Sometimes when doing the cntrl-F that could also becoming from windows and if that doesn't give you search option then there is something missing. But if you not seeing it in FireFox you should look at you Options setting and see if there is a option for you to change that.

So we're on the same page, this is regarding pressing CTRL + F on Firefox, bring up Firefox's in-built "search for" funciton. I can get the search box fine. I can also use it fine. I just want to set the "Match Case" parameter (I.e. case-sensitive searches) off by default (so if I search for "jack", it doesn't come back with zero results because I didn't capitalize the J, by typing "Jack")

This is a Firefox setting, mutually exclusive to windows? I'm sorry, I'm confused by what you've said now.

Jscher2000, thank you so much! I apologize for not seeing that previous post; I went through google but couldn't find anything. Then when I got here, I didn't get that on the initial "are any of these previously answered questions relevant?"

Again, thank you so much! I can't fathom why it changed to 1 though :S
