I like to use more smilies than those awailable in Thunderbird. Is there any way to ad on new ones to the pop up list?
I think the available ones (the "normal" set of "yellow faces" expressing feelings is too little. I'd like to use many of today's common expressions i.e. flowers, sun etc. I installed Thunderbird a couple of months ago.

By and large, the emoticons offered by Thunderbird are the traditional symbols represented by character sequences such as :-), ;-p and so on. It doesn't actually send images. The viewing of these as images depends on the software used to read the email message and whether or not, like Thunderbird, it substitutes an appropriate image on encountering a relevant character sequence.
I suggest you look for an addon that can insert emojis instead.
