Can't see Firefox on Win 10 after update??!!
Trying to help friend. I'm using Win7. He has Win 10. Evidence is it has updated on control panel. But there is no way he can get browser to boot and work. Is this a Win 10 problem that he does not understand? Or something he needs to know about booting Firefox Quantum?

So how was it update on his computer? I have Win10 and have no issue getting FF57 to open. So unless he can somehow log the error - diagnosing it will be hard.
Updated by request for update. When difficulty was experienced, attempted today to update again using Google to reach download site. Updater informs him that FF57 is running. He is now trying to find task manager to close running program. Thanks. Mystery continues as to why FF is not available even though it is running. Probably a result of novice user of Win 10. Any other suggestions will be appreciated.
No several reasons. Bitcoin Miners can do this. Suggest : Please use more than 1 scanner as each uses diff tech : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware Save your Report and google each before deleting anything as do not want to delete something you need, If need help : https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/9573-im-infected-what-do-i-do-now/ Post in only 1 forum, then wait.
Sometimes it just happens that a update will activate something on the system that was dormant. It is worth a check as being a symptom of Miners. It could be just a bad update and a file is not allowing Firefox to shut down. Also using Exit rather than the X can change the behaviour.
Could also do this if scan does not find anything : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer
Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.2 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
