All those add-ons that rely on hiding tabs don't work anymore in FF57+. I grew up with FF, but now I seriously consider to change to an other one. All replacement suggestions given on the FF addons site are not at all satisfying.

My question: Is there any chance at all that such add-ons get implementable again?

Maybe but not for a long time as not letting these plugins get into the guts of Firefox and create issues as well as security problems. https://www.howtogeek.com/333230/why-firefox-had-to-kill-your-favorite-extension/ try the links at page bottom, and this https://mozilla.github.io/extension-finder/ There will be other ways of doing things, code has to make it's way out. Thanks for your reply. I did know all those links already, so this does not help to get back my beloved tab groups. To me, this is a mandatory feature, so no tab groups no FF. I will have to switch to PaleMoon or Vivaldi.

So if I understand your answer correctly, there's no hope.

Even if I understand some of the reasons to drop some features, a lot of us power users did stick to FF because of some add-ons like tab groups. FF will lose a considerable amount of users, I fear this could be the death blow for it. What a pity!

TabHiding API is still experimental, but devs are working on it. So, it will be available maybe the next year.

Great, THAT's good news. Gives room for hope!
