I have long used Firefox because it was the only browser that skipped all the celebrity "news" baloney and just gave me a search window. The new Firefox now joins all the other search engines that bombard me with trivia---click bait---when I open it. Is there a way to skip all that b.s.? I suspect not.

Click the gear in the upper right hand corner, and uncheck anything you don't want to see.
