Hi,

I have a number of folders in the Bookmarks Toolbar which form a drop-down menu when clicked. Is there a way to stop the menu from closing each time I click on a link?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for reply but just found the functionality I was looking for.

Need to set browser.bookmarks.openInTabClosesMenu in about:config to false.

Don't think so but you can keep a persistent sidebar with your Bookmarks open by pressing Ctrl + B

I have When you open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately unchecked but this only seems to work with links - not bookmarks. Is there a way to get bookmarks opening in background?

browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground to true

I'm looking for an add-on that does this; although it isn't there yet, I have little doubt that one will show up soon. Until this happens, an easy way around this (and must say that I am surprised that this incredibly simple way to do this has been around for so long yet seems to have been forgotten).

Find the small basic house shaped logo at the top left of the screen titled "Mozilla Firefox Start Page". Right click on it and add a check to the "Menu Bar" link. This will bring up a new, small bar at the top of the screen with the labels: File, Edit, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. Click on the Bookmarks tab, and the list will drop down as before.

To many of you, this may sound a bit 'long winded' and overly simplistic. You must realize though; not everyone has as much knowledge and experience as you do. 'Fiddling' with a browser tends to be one of the first things that a new, young, relatively uneducated (re: adapting a program) people are likely to do. Firefox, the users and those that come together and write these programs I consider a digital 'family', so to speak. We should all take care of those that need it.

The above solution does not appear to work with latest FF 58.0.2 release. Assistance would be welcome. NB The bookmarks menu did remain open with this release prior to a recent Microsoft windows crash???
