In Firefox’s Privacy & Security setting, the checkbox for ‘Remember logins and passwords for websites” is deactivated. How can I activate the checkbox?

Chosen solution

One possible cause for the checkbox being disabled and un-checkable is if Firefox is set to start up automatically in a private browsing session. To check on that, under Privacy & Security, History section, do you have either of these:

  • Firefox will: Never remember history
  • Firefox will: Use custom settings for history + Always use private browsing mode
