Mozilla, please allow us to disable the "get to google faster" popup, forever!
When is Mozilla going to provide a block for Google's unwanted, abusive, intrusive, productivity-robbing, useless popup that has appeared thousands of times for many years on millions of users' computers, every time we open Firefox even if we already have Google as our search engine of choice?
When is Mozilla going to help put a stop to Google's harrassment?
I've tried several third-party approaches to resolve this problem but they are either too complicated to understand, too complicated to set up, or seem to only work for a while, then fail, or only work part of the time.
This is something that Mozilla needs to fix directly !!!!!!!!!!!! Give us a Break!!!

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove “ Google “ Anything.
Also look for SafeSearch, SearchAssist Incognito, FileConverter Addon, SearchLock, DiscreteSearch, WebSearch
Now do the same in the computer’s Programs Folder.
Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the Applications folder. Linux: Check your user manual.
Thanks FredMcD, I wish it was that easy, but I have no such Firefox addons or extensions installed, nor are any such items installed under Windows Start> Control Panel > Unistall Programs.
The only Firefox extensions I have installed, are Adblock Plus, and Disconnect.
Hopefully, there's another way....!
Are you getting this on Google sites, or anywhere?
Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a good ad / pop-up blocker.
I'm good at ignoring those little messages; I can tolerate a good amount of clutter.
The official answer from Google is: when you "x" off that message, Google sets a cookie so it knows not to show you again. Just don't delete your Google cookies and you'll be fine.
Some people prefer to clear Google cookies.
Over the years, users have posted steps to hide those and other little panels in pages using ad blocking extensions like Adblock Plus/Element Hiding Helper and uBlock Origin, as well as other content-hiding add-ons.
I don't think Firefox is going to add that as a built-in feature as long as there are effective add-ons to do the job.
I see that a cookie with the name OGP gets created if I click the close X (there is also a cookie named OGPC). If I clear this OGP cookie then I see this pop-up once again.
Already have AdBlock Plus; it doesn't stop the popup. No such cookies named OGP found anywhere.

This nuisance shows up in every other browser as well - it's Google that needs to stop nagging. I always just click on the 'X', say something in French, and move on ......

I don't know whether Adblock Plus can target little overlays like this one by itself. I think if you prefer to stick with Adblock Plus, you may need the supplement Element Hiding Helper extension to do that.
If you block all Google cookies or cookies in General then websites can not be aware that you have already seen this pop-up and that you have opted out.
See also the Storage Inspector.
Problem solved per Jscher2000 - Element Hiding Helper extension seems to have done the trick. Thanks to all!
