On some sites that I visit (eg ebay) raw json is displayed.
On some sites I visit rather than having a rendered page returned I sometimes get json returned in a dedicated screen (see attatched), eg https://www.ebay.com.au/rpp/computers-tablets-networking. I can only think that it may be an add-on that I have installed. But on removing firefox and reinstalling I still get the same result. The same sites do not behave this way using IE. BTW FYI I tried to upload an image of the screen but the upload seemed to hang.

Hello,
In order to better assist you with your issue please provide us with a screenshot. If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem?
Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. This will help us to visualize the problem. Uploading the screenshot may take a while.
Thank you!
Load the web page. Then, to reload the page bypassing the cache and force a fresh retrieval; Ctrl+Shift+R (Mac=Command+Shift+R)
It is possible that Firebug is blocking some content, so try to disable Firebug on that website to see if that has effect.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
