Firefox will not save my homepage. Have tried all of your suggestions. I do not have a User.js file to edit preferences. This is for a MAC.
Firefox version 55.03. MAC OS-X version 10.11.6 I have changed my home page countless times, yet every time I start Firefox it opens up at the generic firefox search page. I have assessed the add-ons about them changing my preferences and I have few add-ons - Norton, Shockwave, but not many more. Have looked for the user.js file - but it does not exist on my computer. How do I ensure my preferences for my homepage are saved?

Hey there. Just to ensure you've done the basic method. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-set-the-home-page
If not: You can paste "about:config" into your URL bar. and search "browser.startup.homepage" Then modify by right clicking the value, to insert your homepage as you wish.
I tried that. Then rebooted the computer. And still comes up at the Firefox page and not the specific home page I selected. Tried this method - dragging the URL to home icon as well as setting it in the home page.
Not sure what to try next.
What is coming up?

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
