Pardon me for posting an old problem here but there is a fair bit of old stuff on the fora etc on this problem, but it looks to me like it isn't yet fixed? (or my search skills are failing me!)

Problem is that when Lightning Calendar is enabled, Thunderbird is very slow to start up (30+ seconds)

A few pointers: - Win 7 Pro fully patched, 64 bit and not long rebuilt (problem was there before and after rebuild fwiw) - Tbird 52.3.0 - Mail: 2 mail servers (hosted by a hoster, i.e not Gmail/Outlook/etc etc) accessed by normal POP & IMAP, plus 2 x Gmail accoutns accessed 1 by POP, 1 by IMAP - Calendar: 4 different Gmail calendars, accessed via Provider fro Google Calendar add-on - My installation originally had Lightning as an add-on prior to it being included in the base install - Avast AV - hasn't always been slow but I have been putting up with it for a long time now (years) and decided to try again to find a fix.

I've seen a few posts saying that Tbird itself is slow during normal usage when Lightning is enabled. Don't think I have seen this.

Even with Lightning diabled it still takes 10 secs or so to start

Any pointers gratefully accepted.

What is the startup speed with Calendar disabled?

And have you identified which of the 4 gmail calendars has the greatest impact on startup time?

Wayne, start up with Lightning disabled as about 12 seconds. I will do some testing re the calendars, but even if I do manage to identify one or more which are slowing things down, how might that help?

Question re gmail calendar testing - do I simply have to untick the calendar so as not to display it, or do I have to completely remove each?

Have unticked all the calendars (incl all standard calendars such as country Holidays) and it has made no noticeable difference to the 30-second start-up time. Don't really want to go through the hassle of having to delete and re-add them.
